Strider knives are a joke free#

They were developed as a low cost alternative to Buse knives but they keep production low to force the prices higher. I for one am not a SRKW fan, probably one of the few. IMO the Swamp Rat knives dont really offer anything in performance over any of the other black bladed rubber handled knives you can get from Cold Steel or Becker. A lot of guys buying SRKW are the same guys buying Buse knives and are buying them for collections and not to use. I carried a SB 880 SP during my year in Baghdad and can not say anything negative about the knife or its performance. The 888 Solution can be found in the $125-$150 range also. You can find the large 880 folders in the $75-$85 range on the secondary market. The newer SB Tarani police folders are also made to be more affordable, thus less expensive materials. The newer fixed blades were made to be more affordable and were made with a lower quality steel, 420 stainless. The first model SB Tarani police folder was also in ATS-34. I also have the 880 folders in tanto and drop point and they are decent large big utility foldiers with lots of combatives potential. I have a 888 Solution fixed blade in ATS-34 and it is a great utility and combatives blade. The original Buck Striders are awsome knives. I might get one of there fixed blades but that folder was nice but a little to much for me to spend $137. I've seen a few from them and liked them but the one I like most I think it was called the Rat Mastiff they don't make anymore Theyhad a few others I liked and there prices where not that bad. either company's knives will do you much better service than a strider. Want to spend a little more, get a blade from busse combat, swamp rat's parent company.

even some purposely broken ones have been replaced free of charge by the factory. not sure on strider's warranty, but swamp rats are unconditionally guaranteed for everything but purposeful breaks. and from what i have heard through the grapevine, the swamp rat folks are a lot better to deal with. In comparison, a strider is a brittle and uncomfortable hunk of paperweight. of course, they are a rarer breed, so the secondary market is about the only place to find one right now, but even at inflated resale prices (yes, their value goes UP after they are in people's hands), they are more than likely less expensive and still a better knife. better steel, stronger blades, MUCH better ergonomics, and at least at primary market prices, MUCH cheaper. If you think striders are good, you should check out swamp rat knives.
